Such amazing changes since we were there in October 2010. Three superb water tanks now stand sentinel, 2 at the school and one at the home of Mary Kabiito where the boarders are looked after. Master Tom has a bicycle, on which he can visit families, and take children to the health clinic. The drainage in the front of the school is awesome, channeling the torrential rain away from the school and into tanks for later use.
As for the playground – the swings, see-saw, roundabout and climbing frame are a firm favourite. The playground is in front of the school and easily reached by all the children – we had a wild hour with them in the playground on the one day it didn’t rain, and it was such a joy to watch them laughing and simply enjoying themselves.
Kakunyu School is a joyous place, and is really making a difference to the nursery children and children with special educational needs who attend each day.
